SENEGAL15 Travel Team checks in at Sea-Tac Airport this morning |
Corralling a herd of suitcases filled with everything from soccer balls to gift bags for sponsored Wolof children to birthday napkins, the SENEGAL15 Travel Team flew out of Seattle a little before noon today. After weeks of preparation, they are on their way to share God's message of hope with the Wolof people of Senegal.
"I'm excited and ready to join the Lord in His work," says Team Member Debbie Jones. "It's going to be great to see what He has done and is going to do while we are there."
Fighting a cold, but more than ready for her first trip to Senegal, Kristin Serniotti sums up her preflight excitement in a word. "Numb!" she says with a big grin.
Next stop: JFK Airport; then around 9:30 pm (EST), nonstop to Dakar. Click here for the full itinerary.

We're finally on our way! As we wing our way over Canada en route to JFK International in New
York, I'm having a sensation I've had several times before. The hectic pace of home, work and the
holidays is suddenly no longer a reality. Life is unexpectedly simpler! The
phone is no longer ringing, emails are not streaming in and family requests
for time and attention are strangely absent. Our Team is privileged to focus on just a few things . . . our relationships
with one another and the mission God has set before us.

Kris has provided us with a day-by-day devotional guide for
our trip. Today's instructions encourage
us to reflect on what the gift of salvation means to us. For me, I'm noticing today that there has
never been a point in my life in Christ (for the last 44 years or so!) when I
needed to wonder if there was a point to it all. God has always assured me that He is doing
something, calling me forward into a new adventure of discipleship and
mission. Today I'm grateful for this.
I'm anticipating that this trip to Africa
will be yet another step on a journey with Jesus. And while God's plans are inscrutable (beyond
figuring out), I'm confident that He's using us to do something important.
