NEW YEAR'S EVE

  From John

John Mason, Pastor at Mountain View

"We strongly believe that God has put us together."

-- a young leader from Sorokogne

We had an important meeting today with the leaders of Sorokogne (Soro-kone), the sister village of our ministry partner Adventrue of Faith Church in Port Orchard, Washington.

Our Wolof missionary, A. F., talked about the work that Adventure of Faith has been doing among them for about ten years. He explained that both Mountain View and Adventure of Faith are in partnership with him and the villages of Sorokogne and Diagle (Jog-a-lay, Mountain View's sister village).

Debbie Jones, SENEGAL15 Team Member and Outreach Director at Adventure of Faith, then shared that it is the desire of her church that their partnership continue and that the upcoming project (building a wall around the school yard in Sorokogne) needs to be a cooperative endeavor, with the village residents providing labor and some materials, such as water.

After Debbie shared, we heard the amazing statement from a young village leader quoted above! This from a man who does not profess faith in Jesus, and who was very aware that all the toubobs (foreigners, in Wolof) present at the meeting are committed Christians. Of course, when he speaks of God, his concept differs from ours . . . but the fact that he is open to the relationship is SO encouraging.

There are several men in Sorokogne who were discipled by Jim and Bev Vaughan during the Vaughn's 20-plus years of foundational ministry to Senegal. Adventure of Faith is committed to building upon this foundation. As Outreach Director at Adventure of Faith, Debbie is at the forefront of this ministry.
